About Prestwich Community Choir

A friendly choir for real people who want fun, community and feel good singing.

Our Story

Our beginnings were small and very real.

A group of us used to sing together in another Prestwich choir that sadly closed its doors. We missed the music, but more than that, we missed the community we had built. So Ellen, Sarah, Val and Stef got together and decided to keep that spirit alive. No funding. No big plan. Just people who cared about keeping others connected through song.

Prestwich Community Choir began with a simple idea:

Singing should be joyful.
Singing should be for everyone.
Singing should bring people together.

We held our very first session in September 2023 and over 45 singers came along. There were plenty of nerves and a whole lot of hope. That hope has grown into the warm, inclusive choir family we are today.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to our co founders and to everyone who has volunteered their time along the way. Prestwich Community Choir exists because of the care, energy and belief that was poured in from the very beginning.

As PCC has grown, we have updated how the choir is run. The choir is now owned and led by Stef as Choir Director. This brings clear leadership, consistent support for members, and the ability to invest in what makes PCC special, while keeping our welcoming community ethos at the heart of everything we do.

Our rehearsals are warm, social and full of laughter. Our performances connect us to our local community. Our charity work helps raise awareness and funds for causes that matter to our members.

Every voice matters here. Including yours.

    Danni

    Musical Director
Danni is our Musical Director and a professionally trained music teacher with a ton of teaching mojo. She brings energy, humour and kindness to every rehearsal, helping people feel relaxed, included and proud of the progress they make.

She has a knack for breaking songs down in a way that makes them click, whether you are brand new to singing or you have been doing it for years. Danni leads with real skill and the patience of someone who has heard every wrong lyric imaginable, but still cheers us on like it is opening night.

    Stef

    Choir Director
Stef co founded Prestwich Community Choir and has led the choir since 2024. With over 15 years of choir experience, she believes deeply in the power of singing to build confidence, connection and real community. After more than 20 years working in the NHS, Stef stepped away from her career to focus on the choir she loves.

Stef now owns and runs Prestwich Community Choir as Choir Director, looking after everything from rehearsals and membership to events, partnerships and future planning. Her aim is simple: keep PCC joyful, inclusive and welcoming, while making sure the choir is organised, supported and able to grow.

Charity and community

Our members vote for a charity of the year. This year we proudly support Bury Blind Society through singing, fundraising and community events. Sharing music for good is at the heart of everything we do.

Help us reach our fundraising goals and donate via our Just Giving page.

In 2025 we raised over £1,500 for Bury Hospice. This year we are aiming even higher!
